ABOUT US

She was born in Izmir, completed her undergraduate education at Ege University, Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Animal Science in 1991, worked as a part-time "Agricultural Engineer" in a foreign agricultural company between 1991 and 1993, and started her academic life by being appointed as a "Research Assistant" to the department she graduated from in 1993. She completed her Master's degree in 1995 and PhD degree in 1999 at Ege University Institute of Science and Technology, and was appointed as "Assistant Professor" in 2002, "University Associate Professor" in 2006 and "Professor" in 2013.

She received the "National Science Incentive Award" nine times by TUBITAK and twice by EBILTEM, gave various courses to producers on beekeeping, participated in many national and international conferences, served as a referee and editor in various national and international scientific journals as well as master's and doctoral thesis manager, took part in Postgraduate, Associate Professorship and Professorship juries, and gave lectures abroad. She has worked as an executive and researcher in various national and international projects and has carried out an international FAO project. In 2014, within the scope of the "Rural Development Project" carried out jointly with Ege University Faculty of Agriculture within the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, she carried out and successfully completed a four-year project on the spread of sustainable beekeeping activities by giving beekeeping and bee products production lessons to women producers in every district in Izmir. For the first time in Turkey, the "Mobile Bee Training Vehicle" was developed within the scope of this project and was included in the working group that received the "Utility Model" certificate. In 2015, she was awarded the "Golden Bee" award by the "National Honey Promotion Association" for her scientific studies in the honey and bee products sector, and in May 2021, she was awarded the "International Apitherapy Book Award" by the International Federation of Apitherapy (IFA), Latin American Federation of Apitherapy (Federacion Latinoamericana de Apitherapy, FELAPI), International Propolis Research Group (IPRG), Apitherapy Association and Global Bee Medicine with her book "Bee Products and Health (Apitherapy)". She is currently a member of the Honey Specialised Sub-Commission of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, a member of the TSE Mirror Commission MTC Bee Products Group, a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the National Apitherapy Association, a member of the Advisory Board of Hacettepe University Bee and Bee Products Application and Research Center (HARÜM), a member of the Apitherapy Scientific Committee of the International Beekeepers Federation of Apimondia, and a member of the International Organization for Standardization Bee Products Sub-Group (ISO, International Organization for Standardization - Bee Products). She is a "Programme Evaluator" in the "Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Agricultural Faculties Education Programmes" (ZİDEK) and a member of the Board of Directors of the Aegean Zootechnical Society. She has applied for a patent to the Turkish Standards Institute with one of the successful products she developed on bee products.

Yücel served as "Vice President of Ege University Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Animal Science" between 2014-2017, "Head of Ege University Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Animal Science" between 2017-2021, and "Vice Dean of Ege University Faculty of Agriculture" between 2018-2022. On 31 January 2022, she was appointed as "Dean of Ege University Faculty of Agriculture" and on 27 January 2023 as "Vice Rector of Ege University". She continues her scientific studies on Bee Breeding and Breeding, Organic Beekeeping, Sustainable Beekeeping, Bee Products and Apitherapy and has a good command of English.
